With both sides knowing that a draw would be enough to guarantee a top 6 finish, this was always going to be a nervy game. The two teams met in the second game of the season where Norwich Utd triumphed 3-0 in one of their best performances of the season.
The whole match was tight with all the players desperate not to make a mistake. As a consequence the quality of passing was not at its highest both was more than made up for by the levels of effort and determination.
Neither keeper was tested in the first half and it looked like the game would end in a goalless draw until the home side broke the deadlock with three minutes to go. Ben took a corner to Ollie who had taken up a position just outside the box, his first touch took him round the outrushing defender and his second shot went into the bottom right corner of the net.
The home supporter's hopes for a calm finale were dashed within a minute when a freekick from distance wide on the right wing went rocketing past Teddy's outstretched right arm and into the top corner. The goal was met with roars of approval from the Lakeford players, fans and coaches.
The final couple of minutes provided no more drama...thankfully.
FT 1-1.
